It's that time again...time for current events! Yes, we will be
doing current events quizzes again this year. You will need to review
the major news stories of the week (think political, social, national
and international events, environmental, some entertainment, etc.). Take
some time to read the news today. Your first quiz is next Friday,
September 3. View these helpful hints to prepare:
- watch the first 10 minutes of the evening news on television. The channel doesn't really matter.
- read respected news sites online. CNN, NYTimes, and other outlets are acceptable. TMZ is not.
- Read the New York Times print edition online. Yes, it's the complete paperUse the code 200278513 and log into http://eedition.nytimes.com
- Stay tuned for information on the SF Chronicle e-edition as well.
A period: You will be reviewing parts of the spread today in preparation for a quiz next week. 2nd period: You will begin your first design assignment, All About Me. View the instructions here.

Remember to check your announcements each day (even if you aren't here at school). Recommendation: bring earphones to class so that you can watch video news or edit stuff that we have. In the goofy-but-makes-you-think department, watch this video comparing the Canon 7D and Video Barbie. Today, we will be reviewing Google Docs. |

Today is the last day that we'll all be together. We'll do cords and certificates and such. " Where Journalism Begins" provides some interesting
food for thought on why high school journalism is important. Read it.
Leave a comment there if you wish. Remember to check your staff email over the summer. |

1st
Semester Professional Development 2010-2011: We can send 4 staff

each day covering a range of topics from law and ethics to improving
interviewing technique to effective reporting. If you are interested,
please send an email to Wojo. We will need alternates in case one of the
first four cannot attend. |
