Upside: you just have to hand out papers and talk to people. Downside: If you don't show up you don't have any Professional Development hours for the quarter. Sign ups will be available next week. TUESDAY, JUNE 1: A period
will become a WASC student focus group. ALL interested students are
invited to attend (even people who aren't on staff). If you are not in A
period and would like to attend, please see Wojo to get a pass (if you
need one). Our purpose is to examine the WASC school/community profile,
then determine the school's critical academic needs. Great Resume Builder: from the Contra Costa Times (5/19/10): We
are accepting applications for the 2010-11 Life in Perspective teen
board. We're looking for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who
are confident writers. Our goal is to include a wide spectrum of voices
from as many schools as possible. Board members must commit to
attending monthly meetings during the school year in Walnut Creek or
Oakland and to writing occasional stories and columns for the paper and
online. To download the application form, go hereor

lip@bayareanewsgroup.com. Applications must be postmarked by July 7.For the remainder of this week and next non-staffers will not be in the room at lunch as you finish the last issue of the paper. Furthermore, if you have assignments that are outstanding, you are expected to be in the room at lunch working on your task. Attention Photographers: John Scott, professional photojournalist and yearbook adviser at Thomas Downey HS in Modesto, will be doing a photography track at Yearbook Camp at the end of July. He is a demanding, but outstanding instructor and your photography skills will grow by leaps and bounds in just two and a half days. He works with beginning, intermediate and advanced photographers. Photojournalism is photojournalism so it doesn't matter if you're more interested in newspaper or yearbook photography. If you are interested in attending camp July 30-August 1, see Wojo. Cost to current staffers will be about $100. The offer is open to incoming staffers as well, but they will need to see Wojo for pricing. |
